Cancellation Policy

Courses are organised in response to governor demand and feedback. It is our intention to ensure that cancellations are kept to a minimum but there may be occasions when, due to insufficient bookings, there is no option. To enable us to offer such a diverse range of courses, we have to set a minimum number of attendees for each course/event.

Course cancellation by applicant

This cancellation policy applies to any applicant who cannot attend or who does not arrive for a course for which a confirmed place has been allocated. The cancellation policy also applies to Pay As You Go applicant bookings.

  • All cancellations must be made through Governors Online or email/telephone to Governor.Services@southglos.gov.uk or 01454 863182 at least 3 working days before the start of the course. For example: if the course you wish to cancel is on Tuesday, notice should reach Governor Services on Thursday of the week before. In this case no charge will be made.
  • All cancellations received less than 3 working days before the course start date will be charged a cancellation fee unless the place is taken by another attendee. If you send a substitute to take a pre-confirmed place you must advise Governor Services of the attendee’s details.
  • Governor Services have the option to waive the fee for non-attendance in exceptional circumstances.
  • Schools/Individuals or Organisations will be invoiced the relevant cancellation fee if attendees fail to attend or give less than 3 working days notice. In the case of free courses a charge will be made. See table below.

Course cancellation by course organisers

In the event that a course has to be cancelled, a minimum of 5 working days notice of cancellation will be given to delegates. If late cancellations affect the viability of the course, delegates will be informed by email or telephone as soon as possible.

In the case of last minute unforeseen circumstances i.e. bad weather conditions or tutor illness, delegates will be notified by email or telephone as soon as the circumstance is known. The venue will also be notified of the situation.

In the case of course cancellation by Governor Services, delegates will not be charged, and Governor Services will try to ensure that delegates are sent information about equivalent courses or events as soon as possible.
