Event Description | This series of three sessions explores the technical aspects of grammar including: Word Structure: classes, tenses and phrases; Sentence Structure: clauses, simple, compound, complex and compound-complex sentences and Text Structure: cohesion and coherence. It provides teachers with ideas and strategies to support contextualised, creative and engaging teaching and explains national expectations in relation to progression and the new curriculum. The focus will be primarily on levels 4-6 (our KS1 grammar network will focus on levels 1-3) although there will obviously be some overlap. |

Aims | • To increase subject knowledge in relation to grammatical terms and rules • To understand national expectations and what these look like in practice • To explore progression across the key stage • To share effective strategies for teaching grammar in KS2 |
