| Event Description | The nationally established Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) course trains skilled teaching assistants to deliver interventions for emotionally vulnerable pupils. Trainee ELSAs attend 6 full training days and subsequently carry out supervised practice over the course of the year leading to ELSA certification. It is also a pre-requisite that ELSA line managers attend a 1 ½ hour MS Teams twilight session following Day 1 of the course. The cost for this course is £616 per delegate, which includes six full days training, four subsequent supervision sessions, the published course Handbook and relevant handouts/resources plus basic refreshments (please bring a packed lunch). Please be aware that once ELSA certification is gained, ELSAs need to commit to ongoing supervision sessions in order to maintain the use of the ELSA title and to support their role in school. This is to ensure that ELSAs are given the necessary professional and ethical support to carry out their work to an appropriate standard. There are therefore ongoing supervision costs in subsequent years following the initial training in order to maintain ELSA accreditation. This course is for Teaching Assistants who have been identified for suitability according to the criteria on the attached job description and person specification (please click on ‘Additional Documents’) A Flyer with full information along with Pen Pictures of the facilitators are attached to this course (click on 'Additional Documents'). PLEASE NOTE there is an additional, separate session for your LINE MANAGER to attend (Wednesday 21st September, 3.30 pm to 5 pm), giving them information on how to support you. Any booking should be made in the name of the person attending, via their own CPD Online account, or by your schools nominated CPD Leader, via their upgraded account.
