This forum for subject leaders will provide information about national and local priorities, including the latest developments in primary English; advice and guidance to support the strategic leadership of English and opportunities to share best practice amongst schools. Delegates shape the agenda and sessions are tailored accordingly, allowing subject leaders the opportunity to work together on joint priorities and produce materials to use across schools.
Feedback from these sessions consistently reflects that subject leaders find it an invaluable source of information and support. With the pace of change nationally, alongside developments in school, these meetings provide guidance and resources to ensure that subject leaders are up-to-date.
In our first session we will explore key research linked to the teaching of language comprehension in KS2 and discuss strategies for the classroom. In addition, we will look at KS2 writing moderation findings and their impact on the teaching of writing throughout KS2. Time at the end will be given to create an agenda for our next session. In our second session, we will begin with an initial focus on sentence structure and verb forms, in Y1-Y6. The rest of the session will be based on areas of interest mentioned at the previous meeting. In our third session, we will begin with an initial focus on editing and revising. The rest of the session will be based on areas of interest mentioned at the previous meeting. The final session will be used to share successes from the 22-23 academic year and an opportunity to consider next steps for 23-24.
