Budget Monitoring in HCSS (snapshots)

Schools rely upon good solid budget plans and regular monitoring to survive the inevitable twists and turns that the school year provides. Accurate budget monitoring reports provide the necessary information about a schools’ spending patterns and assist the schools’ management or finance staff to recognise and provide realistic forecasts. Good financial management in schools essentially comes from maintaining knowledge, this is achieved through accurate budget monitoring. There are significant advantages of using HCSS to create a ‘snapshot’. Consider that you have a two month time lag for incremental salary increases. These do not appear in your CIVICA actual expenditure, they are not in your commitments, this can be significant and could result in the school making key decisions on data which is not accurate.


During this session we will take you through how to create and interpret a budget monitoring report in HCSS including:
• links to scenarios;
• the impact of profiling on projected figures;
• how to input adjustments and explain variances.


There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions during the session and whilst you don’t need to be logged into Civica & HCSS, you may find it helpful to navigate in parallel with the trainer and create your own snapshot.


Open to all school staff who use HCSS.

The cost for this course is £30 per delegate for South Gloucestershire maintained schools and £45 for all others.
