In order to be competent in maths reasoning is a key skill at all stages of learning. This course will improve
understanding of what is meant by reasoning and will look at ways to embed this in every part of the lesson.

This training is for Newly Qualified Teachers or those needing a refresher and presents an opportunity to develop science teaching across the primary age range. The session will clarify curriculum expectations, explore how to create a clear teaching sequence for science and also develop ideas for teaching the ‘Working Scientifically’ skills. We will look at how to build evidence for accurate assessment, share good practice and explore creative teaching ideas.

This briefing is aimed at all year 6 teachers. The briefing will cover the key messages from the Assessment and Reporting Arrangements for 2019, together with key messages about moderation and end of year reporting.

An interactive half-day course with activities, exercises, quizzes, case studies and group work covering various problem areas encountered with medicines management and competency assessment in schools.

From 1st October 2017, schools are able to obtain, without a prescription, an emergency adrenalin auto injector (AAI) device. The spare AAI can be used in an emergency situation on a pupil who’s own prescribed AAI cannot be administered because it is not available or not working.
Schools who hold AAI’s need to ensure that staff have received appropriate training and this 2 hour awareness course will help staff gain a greater understanding of the cause and recognition of an anaphylactic shock along with treatment and management of such a situation.

This ½ day course will support you in using data to support your role as SENCo.

We will take you through:

• Using ASP and the IDSR to look at your school’s data, then drill down to see the implications for children with SEND


• Using statutory for Y2 and Y6 pre-key stage standards


• Access and testing arrangements


• Tracking processes for other year groups– questions to ask about your assessment system


• Measuring small steps from children’s starting points using soft and hard data

This course ...

This session will look at effective year 2 moderation, use of tests, new exemplification for reading and maths. It will also share the LA approach to KS1 moderation visits.

You can book onto all 3 sessions (ASSM/18/616) at £100 or each one separately (£40).

This fun course provides voice care and maintenance advice. It will also encourage different classroom appropriate speaking strategies, listening and drama games to explore both voice care and appropriate voice usage with children, helping children to develop confidently in speaking, listening, presentation and performance.

With the Writing Framework for Year 2 and Year 6 defining the requirements for greater depth, many schools are now beginning to look at how to support their more able pupils in reaching this standard. This course will provide an overview of the requirements for greater depth, starting with the requirements for Year 2, considering progression through KS2 and discussing how to make appropriate provision through planning.
