SIMS Top Tips and Techniques Secondary
This is a 1 session course

This course aims to help administrative staff get the most from their SIMS system in terms of productivity and efficiency. We will look at maintaining a tidy database by removing duplicates. Also covered will be methods of internal communication within SIMS, creation of tailored User Defined Fields as well as other time saving hints like setting up shortcuts within SIMS .net.

Delivering the Curriculum - Assessment for Learning
This is a 1 session course

Assessment for learning (AFL) is key part to developing successful independent learners who take an active role in their own learning. This session will look at what constitutes effective AFL, learn how to build pupil independence through questioning, probing, pausing, promoting quality talk, effective marking and metacognition skills. With the new national curriculum having a focus on mastery using effective strategies in AFL sits alongside this and will help to develop confident learners that make really good progress.

Educational Visit Co-ordinator Training (EVENT FULL)
This is a 1 session course

Learning outside the classroom has always been an integral part of a child’s education, providing the opportunity to develop key personal and social skills. The role of an Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) is to help the school fulfil its Health and Safety obligations for off-site school visits, by being involved in the planning and management of all educational visits.

Emergency First Aid (EVENT FULL)
This is a 1 session course

This one-day course meets the requirements of the HSE syllabus and covers the HSE Recommendations for training of an Appointed Person (the minimum requirement for first aid cover at work). Topics include CPR, dealing with an unconsciousness casualty, choking and Major Bleeding. Time is also given to discussing injuries and ailments common in the workplace, both inside and outside the school. The monitoring of sickness absences and dealing with individual cases in a fair, timely and consistent manner is a crucial part of employee management for Headteachers and senior leaders. This is particularly important in these challenging financial times. This session will ensure participants understand the managing sickness absence policy, and can manage the sometimes difficult process of dealing with staff sickness absence. Headteacher Conference - curriculum excellence - not an act but a habit!
