An interactive half-day course with activities, exercises, quizzes, case studies and group work covering various problem areas encountered with medicines management and competency assessment in schools.

The course will explore:

• The importance of pupils continuing to speak their home language, using home languages in the classroom
• Pupils new to learning English as an additional language; supporting the acquisition of English and subject knowledge in the classroom
• More advanced learners of EAL; explicitly teaching academic language
• A culturally inclusive curriculum; how this supports pupils learning EAL
• The prospects for pupils with EAL (looking at evidence about attainment)

Course Structure:

• The two day face-to-face preparation course explains the HLTA standards and the HLTA assessment process and fully explains how to put together the required portfolio of evidence. Guidance is provided on completing the required written tasks and explains the purpose and the set-up of the 3 hour school visit.


• Between days 1 and 2, candidates will engage in online activities to check understanding.

To attend this half day trainingcourse the following criteria must be met: 

1. You have previously attended a full day Schools Visit Leaders training
course.

 or

2. You have previously attended the full day Educational Visits Co-ordinator
Training course.
