An opportunity to informally meet with the NQT Advisor and discuss anything that you would like to about your NQT Year.

This day will focus on ensuring that those involved in validating judgements at Year 2 have the necessary subject knowledge and expertise.  It will focus on detailed explanation of the framework criteria at all standards in relation to grammatical features and composition.

In the last five years, major advances have been made in both reading comprehension research and best practice in the classroom. This engaging two day course aims to help teachers and teaching assistants extend their expertise in teaching reading comprehension across the curriculum in both class and group contexts

• The characteristics of reading comprehension and common barriers some pupils experience in understanding texts


• How to get quick insights into comprehension strategies pupils are using or neglecting in your school

This half day course will support teachers in developing their understanding of the y6 maths curriculum. It will focus on subject knowledge and accurate assessment.

The course will also provide support and guidance in relation to planning, focusing specifically on long
term mapping, effective teaching sequences and how to make provision for reasoning and problem solving.

Current school staffing regulations (Keeping Children Safe in Education) require that at least one member of a school interview panel must have completed appropriate safer recruitment training. The session offered provides a refresher on the subject of Safer Recruitment in schools, for those individuals who have already completed an accredited Safer Recruitment training course. This half day course is suitable for teachers in KS1 and KS2.
Colleagues will explore a range of strategies to support the teaching of comprehension. The course will help colleagues structure guided or whole class reading sessions, develop text marking and improve higher order questioning.

Past exposure to asbestos currently kills around 4,500 people a year in GB. DfE guidance issued this year for school leaders, staff and governing bodies, emphasised the importance of managing asbestos properly. Failure to do this could put peoples lives in danger and could lead to prosecution. Help protect your health and others by attending this new Asbestos Awareness training course which with understanding the risks associated with asbestos. The Course will be run by Sharon Larkman a highly experienced Asbestos Manager, whose knowledge will be beneficial to who attend.

This meeting is held three times over the year. At each meeting there will be time to ensure that assessment leaders are up to date with the key national and local information including Ofsted and DFE updates, data and assessment. There will be time to work on bespoke aspects as identified by members of the group.
