Past exposure to asbestos currently kills around 4,500 people a year in GB. DfE guidance issued this year for school leaders, staff and governing bodies, emphasised the importance of managing asbestos properly. Failure to do this could put peoples lives in danger and could lead to prosecution. Help protect your health and others by attending this new Asbestos Awareness training course which with understanding the risks associated with asbestos. The Course will be run by Sharon Larkman a highly experienced Asbestos Manager, whose knowledge will be beneficial to who attend.

This one-day course meets the requirements of the HSE syllabus and covers the HSE Recommendations for training of an Appointed Person (the minimum requirement for first aid cover at work. Topics include CPR, dealing with an unconsciousness casualty, choking and Major Bleeding. Time is also given to discussing injuries and ailments common in the workplace, both inside and outside the school. Emphasis is placed on individual and group practice of the skills needed in life-threatening situations. This half day session will support colleagues in Year 1 in understanding all aspects of the statutory
phonics screening check.

Support group for SENCo's at schools subscribing to Inclusion Support

This hour and half twlight will support any year 2 teacher or member of SLT with what is good practice for reading moderation. There will be a discussion as to what makes a good evidence base, time  to unpick the key messages from the national exemplifcation , some suggestions as to quick wins with evidence as well as joint school moderation. All of this will be facitlated by the KS1 moderation leads and will support the teachers with external moderation.

This course will review existing functionality in SIMS and reflect on some of the features introduced over recent years. It will be focused on those who have had several years of timetabling experience but would like to review the software and share best practice.

A half day course that will enable you to develop a range of strategies to support the sensory requirements of children with social and emotional needs.

This course will share best practice and support for primary science with plenty of hands-on ideas and
resources to use and apply easily in your school. Two half-day sessions will aim to discuss, share and develop the following elements in primary science:

• Curriculum progression and assessment practices


• Subject leadership skills and strategies


• Raising and maintaining the profile of primary science
