Developing the Curriculum - Engaging writing at KS1
This is a 1 session course

This half day course is suitable for all teachers in KS1. The main outcomes for delegates will be an understanding of the 'Talk for Writing' approach; an ability to plan a teaching sequence which ensures balance of oral retelling, developing story language and KS1 grammar and a confidence in using modelled and shared writing to improve outcomes.

Emergency First Aid
This is a 1 session course

This one-day course meets the requirements of the HSE syllabus and covers the HSE Recommendations for training of an Appointed Person (the minimum requirement for first aid cover at work. Topics include CPR, dealing with an unconsciousness casualty, choking and Major Bleeding. Time is also given to discussing injuries and ailments common in the workplace, both inside and outside the school. Emphasis is placed on individual and group practice of the skills needed in life-threatening situations. Power BI Individual School Dashboards (EVENT FULL)
This is a 1 session course

This Power BI training course is designed for secondary schools to enable them to design and create 3 dashboards for Pupil data, Attendance and Conduct.


This will be for a half day and will assume that you are familiar with creating SIMS reports in .csv format.

Course Manager - essential skills
This is a 1 session course

This course explores how the Course Manager functionality of SIMS links areas such as Nova-T, Academic Management and Examinations Organiser, including procedures for supporting the maintenance of Post-16 learning aims. It is particularly aimed at school with post 16 students.

Second Session Postponed - Primary Assessment Subject Leader Development
This is a 2 session course

In a change for this year instead of Assessment Best Practice we are running assessment briefings as twlights, twice in the year. SIMS Exams Organiser - External Exams
This is a 1 session course
This course is for exam officers wishing to make the most of the Exams Organiser module in SIMS to manage external exams. This course is for new users or those wishing to consolidate their skills. The software will allow schools to make use of the seating planner in Exams Organiser to manage the effective seating of pupils.

NQT - Understanding and Managing Challenging Behaviour
This is a 1 session course

Recent research (Hudson 2012 – Taken from Managing workload document) found that NQTs required ‘Stronger consideration of developing teaching practices, such as: pedagogical knowledge development and behaviour management’.

Including the Needs of Children with Complex Needs - Creating a safe place

In recent years schools are finding that they need to consider how they meet the needs of children with
increasingly complex needs. This series of twilight sessions aims to combine specialist knowledge with the practical experiences of schools who have set up types of provision and practices to meet complex needs in
their school.
