Primary Assessment Briefing
This is a 1 session course

As part of our moderation support we are putting on the following sessions specifically for BaNES schools.
We are running this assessment briefing as a twilight. There will be time to ensure that assessment leaders are up to date with the key national and local information including Ofsted and DFE updates, data and assessment.


This briefing will provide an overview of statutory expectations for year 2 and year 6.

Essential Information: Venue Information - Moorlands School is a federated primary school and has an infant and junior site with several pedestrian entrances. Delegates will need to park on Chantry Mead Road and walk down the short drive to arrive at the main office on the Junior site, off Chantry Mead Road to be allowed secure entrance to the school. There are two disabled spaces available in the staff car park right outside the office if necessary. IMPORTANT - Please ensure that your wear your school photograph identification badges to the course to confirm that you have a DBS certificate. Without it you may not be able to access the school. You will also be required to sign a Compliance Form on arrival.

SIMS Office User - Basic
This is a 1 session course
Some schools rely on just one person in the office to support and administer SIMS, so this course is ideal where your school wishes to spread the expertise or delegate specific processes in SIMS to other colleagues in the school's administration team.

This course is recommended for any school staff who are new to using SIMS .net.
Essential Information: This event is free to attend, for the first delegate attending from settings that subscribe to the IMS team's support service. Year 2 Statutory Assessment Briefing
This is a 1 session course

As part of our moderation support we are putting on the following sessions specifically for BaNES schools.


This briefing will support all year 2 teachers in statutory assessment for 2020. As part of the session we will look at the feedback and key messages from 2019 moderation, mapping your curriculum to ensure that you meet the TA frameworks for maths, writing and reading curriculum. There will be time to ask questions and as well as a sharing of resources.

Year 6 Statutory Assessment Briefing
This is a 1 session course

The session will also share the new STA training materials for writing for 2020.

Delivering the Curriculum - Reading fluency and comprehension
This is a 1 session course

This half day course is suitable for teachers in KS1 and KS2. Reading features throughout the new Ofsted Framework and many teachers are unsure of how to discretely teach the skills which are required to be a secure reader. Therefore, this course provides delegates the opportunity to explore a range of strategies to support the teaching of comprehension. The course will also help colleagues to structure guided or whole class reading sessions. There will be opportunies to share good practice and reflect on future changes to delegates' own teaching of reading.

Essential Information: All courses carrying 'Delivering the Curriculum' in their title cost £50 per half day session. All 10 sessions can be purchased at the reduced cost of £450 (final session is free)
