The mentor role is a crucial one for the teaching profession and supporting new teachers is a rewarding activity. Supporting NQTs to improve their teaching requires observation and evaluative feedback. This is not the only way that NQT monitoring can take place. This half day course will support Year 2 teachers in developing their subject knowledge of the reading curriculum. It will consider the skills children need to develop in Year 2 and how to teach these effectively; what makes an effective evidence base for reading and the requirements of the teacher assessment framework.
