This one-day course meets the requirements of the HSE syllabus and covers the HSE Recommendations for training of an Appointed Person (the minimum requirement for first aid cover at work.) Topics include CPR, dealing with an unconsciousness casualty, choking and Major Bleeding. Time is also given to discussing injuries and ailments common in the workplace, both inside and outside the school. This course is predominantly classroom based. It will increase your knowledge & understanding of
the basic swimming requirements in a primary school swimming programme and health & safety
aspects in and around the pool area. This course will provide you with help and guidance on how to teach beginners to swim, developing through to the teaching of recognised strokes and water
proficiency. There will be lots of opportunities for Q & A and an opportunity to go poolside and cover teaching techniques.

This short twilight session is essential for NQTs in any phase to find out all about induction; what it is, what to do and what support you can expect from your school and the appropriate body.    Mentors are welcome to attend the session.

This course will assist site staff to understand their H&S role and responsibilities and covers a variety of relevant H&S topics including work at height, manual handling, lone working ,asbestos, fire and many more. It is based on the application of practical skills and addresses some of the key H&S issues likely to be encountered in the role. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

An interactive half-day course with activities, exercises, quizzes, case studies and group work covering various problem areas encountered with medicines management and competency assessment in schools.

This course will look at strategies to ensure that high expectations have been established. As well as sharing ideas for getting the children on board from the beginning.  There will be some useful tips and ideas to go and try back in our own classrooms.

This course will equip you to lead RE in your school as a compelling and challenging subject that stretches pupil’s learning. You will be able to communicate to other staff the expectations of the subject, know how to monitor its effectiveness and have some ideas to make RE fun and also contribute uniquely to students SMSC development.

The first hour will be cross phase and then delegates will be separated into Primary and Secondary for the rest of the session.
