Last year, in conjunction with subject leaders, we wrote modified criteria to support writing assessment in non-statutory year groups as part of our Covid support for schools.

In response to requests from a considerable number of schools, we have now revised this so that the statements are fully aligned to the whole curriculum and can be used from 2022 onwards to support writing assessment and moderation. To support teachers, we are running a twilight session to share the rationale behind the criteria and explain how the statements should be used to support accurate assessment. ...

These hour-long sessions are for any Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 or Year 6 teachers that would like some support with planning. Whether it’s mapping out a teaching sequence; ideas for high quality texts; unpicking a key element of the curriculum or anything else, the time is yours to discuss anything that would be helpful. Year 6 teachers can bring along children's writing evidence and work alongside the LA moderator, who will provide advice and guidance about assessment and next steps in learning, as well as anything else that may be useful (such as planning ideas, text recommendations etc.)

Each session is on a 1:1 basis so only one person per school should book. Schools may send a second Year 6 teacher at no extra cost - please just add the name of any extra delegate into th ...
