Maximising the Impact of Teaching Assistants a Conference for Senior Leaders, SENCOs and Teaching Assistants.

This will be a unique opportunity to work with two national experts on ensuring that your teaching assistants team delivers the best possible impact and value for your school. 

This course will be built around the London Leadership Strategy Teaching Assistant Review guide designed to enable schools to ensure the best possible practice in your school.

In this course, we will look at: Roles and responsibilities of the Mentor/Induction Tutor, NQT and appropriate body. We will look at  Observation, feedback and meeting schedules; Professional review meetings; Assessment procedures, with exemplars of good practice; Use of the teachers' standards: materials to support for action planning, monitoring, evidence collection and assessment; Avoiding and dealing with problems, extensions and reductions to induction.

The last half an hour will be used to review the situation in your school.

An essential session for NQTs in any phase to find out all about induction; what it is, what to do and what support you can expect from your school and the appropriate body.

Six Sessions

SDP – Planning Effectively 
Focus on strategic/ subject action planning for middle leaders derived from SDP
objectives. Work on an SDP template and how the SEF links with the SDP.
Discussion about how to monitor against a plan.

Know Your School Data

Colleagues will be provided with an overview of ASP and IDSR
followed by discussion and analysis about what your school data shows.

Managing Change

This course is designed to support Deputy Headteachers and Assistant Headteachers who are new to the role or those middle leaders who are aspiring to a more senior role. Colleagues will explore strategies to support senior
leadership including collaborative leadership models and understanding leadership styles. This is a three session course with the first two days being full days, followed by a half day so colleagues can build a supportive network moving forward. Colleagues can supplement this professional development by attending leadership toolkit sessions and the conference.

The nationally established Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) course trains skilled teaching assistants to deliver interventions for emotionally vulnerable pupils. Trainee ELSAs attend 6 full training days and subsequently carry out supervised practice over the course of the year leading to ELSA certification.

The cost for this course is £540 per delegate (which includes six full days training, four subsequent supervision sessions, the published course Handbook and relevant handouts/resources plus basic refreshments (please bring a packed lunch).
