STA have announced, as in the 2020/21 academic year, that it will be statutory for schools to administer a past version of the check to year 1 pupils between 6 and 10 June 2022.

Year 1 pupils who meet the expected standard will not be required to complete any further statutory assessments, those pupils who do not meet the standard will be expected to take the statutory check in June 2023.
