In a change for this year instead of Assessment Best Practice we are running assessment briefings as twlights, twice in the year. At each meeting there will be time to ensure that assessment leaders are up to date with the key national and local information including Ofsted and DFE updates, data and assessment.

This one day course is for any new Year 2 teachers or anyone returning to Year 2. The morning session will focus on writing where we wil focus on key subject knowledge, the teacher assessment frameworks, national exemplification and effective moderation of writing. The afternoon session will be split into maths and reading. Recent research (Hudson 2012 – Taken from Managing workload document) found that NQTs required ‘Stronger consideration of developing teaching practices, such as: pedagogical knowledge development and behaviour management’.

This course will give you an understanding of the reasons behind some behaviour problems and that it does not stand alone, but arises from some other need. It will look at how to identify and address some of these difficulties. Advice and suggestions to work with children with challenging behaviour will be explored.

increasingly complex needs. This series of twilight sessions aims to combine specialist knowledge with the practical experiences of schools who have set up types of provision and practices to meet complex needs in
their school.

This series of courses are priced at £30 each. If a deleagte books and attends all six sessions the final session will be free of charge.

Language variation in children is complex and difficult to attribute to a single cause. Regardless of the causes,
low levels of vocabulary set limits on literacy, understanding, learning the curriculum and can create a downward spiral of poor language which begins to affect all aspects of life. The prospects for children entering school with low levels of vocabulary are a compelling reason for us to work to understand the way children learn in order to try and find solutions.
