Asbestos Awareness Course
This is a 1 session course

Past exposure to asbestos currently kills around 4,500 people a year in GB. DfE guidance issued this year for school leaders, staff and governing bodies, emphasised the importance of managing asbestos properly. Failure to do this could put peoples lives in danger and could lead to prosecution. Help protect your health and others by attending this new Asbestos Awareness training course which with understanding the risks associated with asbestos. The Course will be run by Sharon Larkman a highly experienced Asbestos Manager, whose knowledge will be beneficial to who attend.

Essential Information: The cost for this course is £75 however a discount of 5% will be applied for schools that will be subscribing to Schools Health And Safety Basic Package at the time the course takes place and a discount of 7% will be applied to those subscribing to the Schools Health & Safety Enhanced Package.

SIMS Top Tips and Techniques for Primary Schools
This is a 1 session course

This course aims to help administrative staff get the most from their SIMS system in terms of productivity and efficiency. We will look at maintaining a tidy database by removing duplicates. Also covered will be methods of internal communication within SIMS, creation of tailored User Defined Fields as well as other time saving hints like setting up shortcuts within SIMS .net.

AET Schools Programme - Progression framework
This is a 1 session course

This 90 minute session is an introduction to the framework and how to use it. Hands on training to set learning goals, measure progress and map provision. This framework is for assessing needs that are  non-academic, e.g. social, sensory, independance.


This session is suitable for practitioners working with school age pupils on the autism spectrum in both mainstream and specialist services. This may include:



  • teachers

  • teaching assistants

  • Sencos

  • any practitioner needing to map the progress of pupils

Essential Information: This AET training is only available to South Gloucestershire and Bristol Schools. Please contact Claire.Phillips@ southglos.gov.uk for further information on your local AET hub. Please would delegates bring a laptop with them to the training with the Progression Framework downloaded onto it. It is free to download from the AET website. Primary Assessment Briefing
This is a 1 session course

As part of our moderation support we are putting on the following sessions specifically for BaNES schools.
We are running this assessment briefing as a twilight. There will be time to ensure that assessment leaders are up to date with the key national and local information including Ofsted and DFE updates, data and assessment.


This briefing will provide an overview of statutory expectations for year 2 and year 6.

Essential Information: Venue Information - Moorlands School is a federated primary school and has an infant and junior site with several pedestrian entrances. Delegates will need to park on Chantry Mead Road and walk down the short drive to arrive at the main office on the Junior site, off Chantry Mead Road to be allowed secure entrance to the school. There are two disabled spaces available in the staff car park right outside the office if necessary. IMPORTANT - Please ensure that your wear your school photograph identification badges to the course to confirm that you have a DBS certificate. Without it you may not be able to access the school. You will also be required to sign a Compliance Form on arrival.

Year 2 Statutory Assessment Briefing
This is a 1 session course

As part of our moderation support we are putting on the following sessions specifically for BaNES schools.


This briefing will support all year 2 teachers in statutory assessment for 2020. As part of the session we will look at the feedback and key messages from 2019 moderation, mapping your curriculum to ensure that you meet the TA frameworks for maths, writing and reading curriculum. There will be time to ask questions and as well as a sharing of resources.
