This one day course supports designated School Visit Leaders in both Primary and Secondary settings to carrying out their duties effectively. Theory is covered in the morning and the afternoon session comprises a practical activity to reinforce and confirm those principles.

This course is suitable for teachers in primary and secondary.

• The importance of pupils continuing to speak their home language, using home languages in the classroom
• Pupils new to learning English as an additional language; supporting the acquisition of English and subject knowledge in the classroom
• More advanced learners of EAL; explicitly teaching academic language
• A culturally inclusive curriculum; how this supports pupils learning EAL
• The prospects for pupils with EAL (looking at evidence about attainment)

This half day course is aimed at the person who is responsible for overseeing the Fire Risk Assessment and fire response plan for the school premises.
On completion of the course, each delegate will have gained a greater knowledge and understanding on what is included in a fire risk assessment and the importance it has in relation to fire safety within the school
