Cohesion is one of the most significant writing issues that has come to the fore since the pandemic. Pupils from all year groups are struggling to maintain cohesion and teachers can be unsure about how to address writing that doesn't make sense. This has been emphasised through moderation, where the understanding of cohesion has been a key focus in STA training and a noticeable weakness in both the 2019 and 2022 cycles.

We are aware that there are so many things going on in schools that it often means as a maths leader that you don’t have time to keep fully up to date with what is happening in the world of mathematics.
