Down Syndrome Support Group
This group will meet for six sessions per year and aims to offer support for colleagues working with children with Down Syndrome. Sessions in terms 1, 3 and 5 will be taught sessions. The agendas will be flexible to respond to participant's needs as well as offering direct training from outside agencies. The remaining sessions will be less formal support sessions where colleagues can talk, share and reflect on experiences.

In this course we look at Statutory induction arrangements and teacher standards; roles and responsibilities of the Mentor/ Induction Tutor, NQT, Governing Body; Observation, feedback, professional review meetings; assessment procedures, with exemplars of good practice; Materials to support use of the teacher standards for action planning, monitoring, evidence collection and assessment; The use of the Career Entry and Development Profile or school portfolio; Avoiding and dealing with problems, extensions and reductions to induction.

Classes, Clauses and Cohesion: Developing Grammar in KS2
This series of three sessions explores the technical aspects of grammar including: Word Structure: classes, tenses and phrases; Sentence Structure: clauses, simple, compound, complex and compound-complex sentences and Text Structure: cohesion and coherence. It provides teachers with ideas and strategies to support contextualised, creative and engaging teaching and explains national expectations in relation to progression and the new curriculum. The focus will be primarily on levels 4-6 (our KS1 grammar network will focus on levels 1-3) although there will obviously be some overlap.
