This session is aimed at School Administrators and Headteachers. It will ensure schools apply STP&CD rules in relation to:

• Calculating contractual hours of part time teachers
• Calculating non-teaching directed time for part time teachers
• Requiring part time teachers to attend inset/staff meetings/parents evenings, etc

In this full day course, we will explore how we can support children to build solid foundations of learning within the EYFS curriculum. All areas of learning and development within the Early Years curriculum are important and inter-connected. However, this course will have a particular focus on how to plan effective and engaging learning opportunities that will raise outcomes in the prime area of learning ‘communication and language’ and the specific areas of learning ‘literacy’ and ‘mathematics’.

In this one day session colleagues will be based in a school and look at triangulating a range of information to support monitoring including work scrutiny and learning walk.

Delegates will work with colleagues to develop expertise in using a variety of strategies to monitor teaching and learning.

They will explore how to use the outcomes to identify strengths and next steps for learning and teaching.

In this session, we will develop our subject knowledge of phonics.  We will explore what the progression of phonics skills looks like across YR and Y1 and what the provision of phonics looks like in both year groups.

This half day course will focus on how a phonics first approach can support children to become confident and independent spellers. We will discuss the development of a range of strategies that children can use to enable them to make effective choices when spelling phonically encodable words. We will also explore some strategies to support the spelling of sight words.

This half day course is suitable for all teachers in KS1. Colleagues will explore a ‘talk for writing’ teaching sequence that ensures a balance of oral retelling, developing story language and KS1 grammar.
Colleagues will also explore how to priorities the teaching of key skills across the year.

These two half days will support teachers in developing their understanding of the y3/4maths curriculum.The course will focus on subject knowledge for the strands in the curriculum. There will also be some time to look at assessment.

The first session will focus on subject knowledge and ideas for teaching number and calculation, and time will be built in to look at assessment of some of these strands.

In response to the rapid changes occurring in national assessment initiatives, Capita SIMS has provided a suite of additional Key Stage 4 (KS4) resources which may be imported and used to calculate headline figures for internal assessments. The resources will also enable schools to identify students who are underachieving in any of the key groups.

This forum for primary schools meets three times during the year and is an opportunity for subject leaders to keep up to date and to share practice. The sessions also support ICT/computing subject leaders with developing their leadership skills through a focus on self-evaluation, action planning and monitoring to enable them to effectively lead their subject.
