Essential Information: Support from the school: It is important that your school leaders and learning colleague support your progress through the programme and following face to face sessions. A 'learning colleague' in school is a colleague who will be able to offer further advice and support to you. Please find out who they are! They may be a senior leader or another experienced middle leader. It is expected that together you will find up to half an hour between each face to face session to review and plan your next actions. We estimate this to be a maximum commitment from the learning colleague of about 5 hours across the programme. If there is more than one person completing the programme in school, then you may well be able to meet altogether. NQT Developing Teaching and Learning Skills: Maths 2 (EYFS & KS1)
This session is all about how maths can be adapted to feel real and useful for pupils. It will include how to plan problem solving lessons, activities to support all areas of problem solving including effective mental orals and plenaries, and AFL strategies. This course is for teachers in EYFS and KS1 (KS2 in following week).
Essential Information: While there are three English sessions and two Maths Sessions which can be booked as stand-alone sessions, and delegates can join the NQT programme at any time, we recommend that you book all English/ Maths sessions to ensure continuity in learning. School Trip/Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) Training
This course is aimed at EVCs and school staff who may wish to take groups of youngsters out of school but lack the confidence or knowledge to do so. It will cover the legal side of responsibility, the understanding of assessing and managing risk away from the school environment as well as practical tips on dealing with potential problems. TA Network: Unlocking English - Grammar
This network will support TAs to develop their subject knowledge in relation to the key English areas they may be supporting in school. The four sessions will focus on: grammar; phonics; reading and writing respectively. During each session we will explain key terminology; explore what progression looks like; discuss strategies to support teaching and learning (particularly that of less able children) and share ideas and resources.
