Year 6 Writing Moderation Twilights
It is highly recommended that all Year 6 teachers attend one of these sessions, despite their level of experience or previous attendance.
This twilight session will build on key messages from the Y6 session in term 1 and will provide essential information about the assessment of writing in Year 6. It will include:
' - What constitutes best practice
' - the use of standardisation and moderation
' - levelling samples of work
' - what an appropriate evidence base looks like
' - maladministration
' - what to expect during a LA moderation visit
Delegates need to bring examples of children's writing/books as there may be an opportunity for paired moderation of this. It's recommended that they bring work they would like verification for.

Part-time Staff (EVENT FULL)
We are aware that due to staff turnover in recent years some schools are not aware of the regulations governing the employment of part-time teachers, particularly with regards to the calculation of their correct contractual hours of employment.

TA Network: Unlocking English - Reading
This network will support TAs to develop their subject knowledge in relation to the key English areas they may be supporting in school. The four sessions will focus on: grammar; phonics; reading and writing respectively. During each session we will explain key terminology; explore what progression looks like; discuss strategies to support teaching and learning (particularly that of less able children) and share ideas and resources. The sessions will be flexible and tailored to meet the needs of the group based on feedback/requests from delegates.
