Focusing on Film: Using Short Films to Support English Teaching

‘Moving image media provides us with a distinctive and vital means of expression; a dominant and global source of stories, ideas and opinions and is increasingly important part of our cultural heritage. By the time they are three years old, most children have learned another language in addition to their spoken mother tongue: they have learned the codes and conventions through which moving images tell stories. This emergent ‘cineliteracy’ sets them on the brink of an amazing world of images and sounds.’ (British Film Institute, 2003) Course Code: LIT/20/309
