Phonics Screening Check Briefing for Year 1 and Year 2 Teachers 2025

 

All year 1 pupils who are able to access the phonics screening check will need to complete the check in June 2025. Any year 2 pupils who didn’t pass the screening check in year 1 will also need to complete the 2025 phonics screening check in June 2025.

The purpose of this briefing is to outline the phonics screening check process for year 1 or year 2 teachers who may be unfamiliar with this. AET Early Years Programme: Anxiety Module - Schools, Nurseries, Pre-school Settings and Childminders* South Gloucestershire Only

Anxiety is one of the top concerns for autistic people, their families, and the professionals who work with them. By listening to the voices of those with lived experience, we were able to create a module that helps others to understand how anxiety can impact on an autistic child’s daily life.

The module will help delegates to think about the reasonable adjustments that can be made to support young autistic children, with the aim of creating long lasting impactful change to the Early Years environment.

End of Key Stage 1 Annual Moderation Event - Securing Judgements

This event replaces individual school appointments to discuss teacher assessments with the moderation team

ELSA - Emotional Literacy Support Assistants

The nationally established Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) course trains skilled teaching assistants to deliver interventions for emotionally vulnerable pupils. Trainee ELSAs attend 6 full training days and subsequently carry out supervised practice over the course of the year leading to ELSA certification. It is also a pre-requisite that ELSA line managers attend a 1 - 2 hour twilight session following Day 1 of the course.
