Teachers need to make a teacher assessment for maths and reading as well as writing using the national teacher frameworks in reading, writing and maths.

The final teacher assessment at the end of KS1 for 2023 also means school may have external moderation visits and part of their focus is on reading and maths. Teachers will need to administer KS1 tests in reading and maths only.

In June 2023 all Year 2 teachers will need to make a teacher assessment using the national teacher frameworks in reading, writing and maths.  As in 2022, Year 2 teachers need to be familiar with the teacher assessment frameworks as well as the reading and maths tests. There will also be the continuation of external moderation visits to a sample of schools in June 2023.

This twilight is for all year 2 teachers to be make sure they are up to date with the statutory requirements for assessment for 2023 and are aware of the feedback from visits from this year’s cycle.
